The Wrekin
22 minute drive
Take on an iconic hill. Experience breath-taking views while you walk the Wrekin, a 20-acre Iron Age hillfort and one of the best walks in Shropshire. Put some comfortable walking boots on, tread on volcanic rock millions of years older than Mount Everest and see if you can reach the summit. If it’s a clear day you might be able to see 17 counties from the 407m (1,335ft) summit.
River Severn

Walk along Britain’s longest river. Treasure moments of peace and quiet near River Severn, which runs for 220 miles from Wales through England's southern counties. Opt for the Iron Bridge Loop from Madeley walking route, take a jacket with you in case of rain and appreciate the natural beauty around you.
Offa’s Dyke Path National Trail

Explore the beauty of Shropshire. What’s one of the best walks in Shropshire? It could be Offa's Dyke Path National Trail (you won’t know until you try it). This route crosses wild moorland, attractive wide river valleys and ancient woodland. As well as seeing some stunning flora and fauna, you’ll also come across hill forts, castles, abbeys, and much more.
Weston Park
30 minute drive
The perfect family walk. Enjoy a day out at Weston Park, a country house first built in 1671. Choose four different walking routes and uncover the beauty that lies in 1,000 acres of landscaped park. The oldest oak trees in the parkland dating back to 1410 can be seen on the Knoll Tower Walk, and you might be able to spot some deer on the Shrewsbury Drive Deer Walk.
Carding Mill Valley
30 minute drive
Set atop a sandstone escarpment on the Staffordshire-Worcestershire border, Kinver Edge offers a unique mix of sweeping heathland views, ancient woodland and quirky rock dwellings carved into the cliff at Holy Austin. Follow the 4-mile Centenary Trail to discover troglodyte homes, broad vistas across two counties and nature paths that invite exploration. The route is moderate, with some ups and downs, making it a perfect half-day excursion during your stay in the region.
Dudmaston Hall and Dingle walk

Located near Bridgnorth, Dudmaston Estate is a rich blend of historic country house, parkland and woodland rich in wildlife. Enjoy a forested stroll down to lakes, through dingle woodland and around the estate’s grounds where you might spot butterflies, birds and a variety of habitats across the 3,000-acre estate. The walk provides a tranquil, nature-filled escape - ideal for combining a relaxed outdoor outing with your stay in Shropshire.
